18 Mar What Is a Home Health Clinic?
If you or a loved one requires a little extra support as they age, or if medical care is required for an injury, diagnosis, or a medical condition, living in an assisted living facility is likely the first thing to come to mind. Although this is an option if extra care and support is needed, it isn’t your only option. A home health clinic is an alternative that provides many different services that don’t require you to leave your house.
The clinic comes to you
You may not have to go to the doctor the next time you need your hearing, vision, or overall health checked. The clinic may be willing to come to you!
Traveling clinics and skilled nurses offer a variety of services to patients so that there is no need to leave home. Depending on where you live, it might be as easy as making an appointment, just like you would if you were going to go into your doctor’s office. In other cases, you may work with a skilled nurse, like those provided by Life & Health Care, who can provide you with occupational therapy, injections, catheter management, and more at home so there’s no need to go to the clinic or live in a residential facility.
General in-home services
In some cases, home clinic services refer to more generalized services that can be provided to seniors who are living at home and want to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible.
Some of these services must be completed by professional nursing staff, but in other cases, services can be provided by a highly trained caregiver. For example, a nurse may come to your home to give you medication, but the caregiver may also be able to help you plan meals and run errands. Working with the same caregiver can make transitional care easier too, if the day comes when you have to move to a care facility.
